The municipality of Salou, aware of the limits of our natural resources and the environmental impact of our activities, and with the aim of achieving a greater Sustainable Development, considers it necessary to establish an Environmental Management System. For this reason we agree to adopt this Environmental Policy and to the periodic inspection of our activities, products and services in order to confirm that they comply with this policy, as well as the continuous improvement of its effects on the environment.
Therefore, the Salou Town Council makes the following commitments:

• TO EVALUATE our activities, products and services, supervising their repercussions on the environment and examining their significant impact.

• TO ADOPT the necessary measures to eliminate, or if that is not possible, to reduce or prevent, pollution, waste production, etc. by introducing the corresponding corrective measures and by taking into account all those aspects necessary to guarantee the protection of the environment.

• TO ESTABLISHprocedures to confirm compliance with the Environmental Policy and the environmental objectives and benchmarks. These will set out the actions to be taken (measurements, tests and updating of records) and will define the measures to be taken in the event of non-compliance, thus ensuring continuous improvement in beach management.

• TO COMPLY with the current legislation and environmental regulations and with the other commitments taken on by the municipality.

• TO PROMOTE a sense of environmental responsibility among all employees, concessionaires and beach users by means of training, motivation and awareness programmes.

• TO COLLABORATE with other public and private authorities in setting up emergency plans in order to minimise the effect of accidents that affect our beaches.

• TO PROVIDE our citizens with suitable instructions on the pertinent environmental aspects related to the use, products and services of our beaches, with the aim of promoting respect for and care of our beaches.

• TO ENCOURAGE the private companies and concessionaires operating on our beaches to take this environmental policy into account when carrying out their daily tasks.

• TO INFORM the public in order to improve their understanding of the repercussions of our activities on the environment.
